Straight Up Truth

Satan:  The deceiver, the liar, the manipulator.

Peter warns us about Satan in 1 Peter 5:8, “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”

So why do we listen to him? Why do we give him to lies and deceit? He takes sin and sugar coats it. He makes sin look like it’s okay and that it won’t hurt anybody. All we have to do is just try it once. Didn’t he use this same thing on Adam and Eve at the beginning of time? He is using the same exact techniques as he did in the Garden and they still work just as well today as they did then. You’re probably wondering what I’m getting at. The fact is, Satan keeps the truth from us. I have friends and family that have been blinded by his tactics and they cannot see past their own nose. Their truth is what is true and you cannot tell them any different.

2 Corinthians 4:4, “Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.”

Satan has placed a blindfold over those who do not believe or semi-believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They see things how they want to see them. This really bothers me friends. It’s so hard to see people around you believe in something that will lead them to an eternity in Hell.

The truth is:  Ever since Creation, God had a divine plan mapped out. Man would be deceived but God sent his Son, Jesus Christ to become a human being to save us all from the Great Deceiver himself. We must get the truth out about Jesus. We must not hold back the truth of his Word. Jesus says in John 8:31-32, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” We must break free from the shackles of sin and put on the whole Armor of God (Eph. 6:11-17).

How can we keep the truth close to us and not be deceived? James tells us to “humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (4:7) God will give us the strength to resist Satan. To do this we must “wear righteousness like a belt and truth like an undergarment” (Is. 11:5)Dig deep into the Word and get on your knees and pray that the truth will always find you.

My prayer is that you will always know the truth. Don’t let Satan cover the truth from you. Read your Bible, pray, and seek his will and the truth will ALWAYS set you free.

Prayers & Blessings,

Lindsay

  1. Lindsay! Have you read the 2nd half of Psalm 18 yet? We even reference some of the same Scriptures! Steve is teaching through Thessalonians, and he made the same points Tuesday night. SO, this is the 3rd message this week that has reminded me that we are to be light to those in the darkness…I think He is trying to tell me something! Good Word, Sista! Oh, and I’m crying a little bit thinking how all that ‘torture’ I put you through in my class has paid off…I bet back then you never thought you’d be ‘published’ where all your friends and family can read your writing! Gives me motive to keep ‘torturing’ students, lol!

  2. I love these two verses: John 8:31-32, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

We just studied them on Sunday morning and it was a reminder that when we stay in His word, His truth is revealed to us. I have plenty of blind spots I need revealed to me and I know He is faithful and will set me free! Thanks for the sharing your heart!

  3. Love the John 8 verse! We studied this Sunday and it is a constant reminder that I have blind spots which require God’s truth. Praise Him for His faithfulness in setting us free from that which captivates us. Hope to see you Saturday morning for coffee @ 8:30! Great word!
